RF Web Dial may discontinue service in Pakistan

November 13th, 2009

We received the following note from our local access number provider in Pakistan:

In the light of the currently unstable regulatory environment in Pakistan and given our lack of confidence to keep the service available for an extended period of time, we have decided to suspend all our operations in Pakistan.

The PTA (Pakistan Telecommunication Authority) has decided to suspend all foreign IP telephony services using Pakistan numbers. Despite multiple discussions and escalations we have not obtained the needed confidence that the regulatory environment would evolve positively for IP telephony services.

All Pakistan numbers will therefore be disconnected within the next 3 months.

We are working to find an alternate local access number provider in Pakistan before service is interrupted.
