Does RingFree encrypt the information it sends from the iPhone dialer and the server?
All dialing and account information traveling between your iPhone and RingFree is fully encrypted. Encryption between RingFree and a service provider or PBX is dependent on whether the service provider or PBX supports encryption. The SIP protocol itself encrypts call signaling (number dialed, password, etc.) between RingFree and a service provider. The portion of any telephone call initiated on the RingFree dialer that travels over the wireless network is encrypted.
Does RingFree encrypt the account information I have entered?
All password information stored on RingFree's server -- including service provider and PBX account information -- is encrypted using highly secure algorithms.
Why must caller-id be enabled on my iPhone for RingFree to work?
When you make a call using the RingFree dialer, your iPhone sends a bit of data (over Edge or WiFi) to the RingFree server, including your user account ID (your iPhone number), password, your call destination (a phone number, SIP URI, Voice over IM account, etc.), and the service you wish to use. At this point, RingFree is waiting for a call from a telephone that identifies itself with the the number in your user account ID, in other words, your iPhone number. If caller-id is disabled on your iPhone, when your phone makes the call to our servers, RingFree will have no idea who you are and will be unable to connect you to your calling destination.
What information does RingFree keep about me? Who is it shared with?
Here's the information RingFree stores on its servers so you are able to use the RingFree dialer:
- Your iPhone telephone number;
- Your full name;
- The e-mail address you registered with;
- Your RingFree account password;

- The date you joined RingFree;
- The date when your RingFree account is set to expire;
- Account information for any service provider or PBX you wish to use with RingFree;
- Your calling history;
- Your "Favorites" list.
None of the information above is shared with any third parties for commercial purposes without your express and explicit permission, and except if RingFree is ordered by a court of law to provide such information for law enforcement purposes.
